Meet Alma
Alma Jimenez Tapia, LCSW (she/her/ella)
¡Hola! I am a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience in the social services field including transitional housing, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, and outpatient mental health therapy. As an immigrant from Mexico City living in Chicago, my experiences with oppression and assimilation have fueled my desire to work with the community and individuals to provide affirming and destigmatizing mental health services.
As a bilingual and bicultural therapist, I am passionate about providing therapy services that are inclusive, compassionate, and liberating. My approach is holistic as I embrace intersectioniality and radical social justice to empower individuals who are experiencing traumatic stress, depression, life transitions, burnout, anxiety, and grief, as well as navigating systemic oppression. I enjoy working with people who identify as multicultural individuals, immigrants or children of immigrants, first-generation folks, neurodivergent, or LGBTQIA+.
I believe that everyone has strengths which are superpowers or superpoderes, and these superpowers can comfort and guide us. I’m dedicated to helping people explore and discover their own strengths and wisdom to heal and thrive. ¡Platiquemos!
Specialized trainings include: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Theraplay, Parent Management Training.
